About us

Welcome Back to Gallery of Mo!

After a 10-year hiatus, Gallery of Mo is thrilled to return with a renewed passion and a continued commitment to supporting the incredible work of Movember. We use the power of art to raise funds and awareness for men’s health, inviting you to be a part of our creative journey.

Our mission

Gallery of Mo is more than just an art gallery; it’s a movement. Our mission is to combine the love of art with a cause that matters. By donating to Movember through our website, you not only contribute to vital men’s health initiatives but also receive a one-of-a-kind "Mo’trait" — a personalised portrait featuring a stylish moustache, crafted by one of our talented artists.

Whether you’re a Mo Bro or a Mo Sista, participating in Movember has never been easier or more fun. Choose your favourite artist, make a donation, and join us in making a difference.

Our story

The beginnings

Gallery of Mo was born out of a simple yet powerful idea: to create a platform that not only encouraged donations from beyond our immediate circle but also spread the word about Movember’s impactful work. In 2011 Gallery of Mo was created — a space where anyone could participate in Movember by donating and receiving a moustachioed portrait in return.

2011 Gallery Of Mo Website

The first Gallery of Mo was designed and built in just one week. Initially, we planned to have only four designers from Twentysix illustrating the portraits, but the project quickly gained momentum. Artists from around the world, including notable names like McBess, Stan Chow, David Despau, and Pat Perry, joined us. The response was overwhelming, with 20 artists contributing and over £5,000 raised for Movember in 2011 alone.

Growth and Success

Encouraged by the success of 2011, Movember invited us to continue the project in 2012, helping us gain national recognition and expand our reach. We launched an "Artists We Need You" campaign, resulting in 174 artists signing up and nearly £12,000 raised. The website was redesigned to streamline the process, making it easier for users to donate and for artists to contribute their work. The site became a popular feature at Movember events, even earning a tweet from Stephen Fry!

In 2013, Gallery of Mo went international, with Movember helping us expand the project to the USA, Germany, France, and the Netherlands. We refreshed the site with a clean, vibrant, geometric style that adapted seamlessly across digital and print media. By the end of 2013, we had raised nearly £9,000, with 193 artists contributing to the cause.

Our Return

Now, after a decade away, we’re back and ready to make an even bigger impact. The world has changed, but our mission remains the same: to unite the power of art with the spirit of Movember, raising awareness and funds for men’s health in a fun, creative way. With a fresh lineup of artists and a renewed energy, Gallery of Mo invites you to join us once again.
