What is it?
Movember is a global charity dedicated to changing the face of men’s health. Every November, millions of people around the world grow moustaches to raise awareness and funds for critical health issues that disproportionately affect men: mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer.
Mental Health and Suicide Prevention
Movember takes a unique approach to mental health by viewing it through a male lens, focusing on prevention, early intervention, and health promotion. Given that men account for 75% of suicides in the UK, the charity supports initiatives that encourage men to talk more openly about their feelings and seek help early. Programs like Movember Conversations and various community sports initiatives are designed to help men build social connections and develop resilience.
Prostate Cancer
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer among men, with over 10.8 million men living with the disease globally. Movember funds research and provides support to improve the quality of life for men with prostate cancer, including initiatives like the TrueNTH program, which focuses on comprehensive care—from diagnosis to recovery.
Testicular Cancer
This is the most common cancer in young men aged 15-39. Movember’s work in this area includes raising awareness about early detection and funding research to improve treatment and outcomes for those affected.
